Volunteer Opportunities

The Anne Johnston Health Station relies on volunteers to support our work in engaging the community through high quality accessible health and community services; empowering them to build on strength and inspire change, and enhancing the health of our communities. Our range of programs and services offers you the chance to work with us in many different and rewarding ways!

Please note we have a limited number of volunteer opportunities available.  While we thank all applicants for their interest, only those selected for a screening interview will be contacted.

How to become a volunteer:

  • Complete our volunteer application form and email it to josees@ajhs.ca or visit the Anne Johnston Health Station and drop it off at front reception.
  • After reviewing your application, we will invite you to a screening interview to ensure a positive match between your interest and opportunities at the Anne Johnston Health Station.

AJHS is committed to providing high standards of education for students in related disciplines and to provide opportunities for training in the community health centre model of care. Many of the professions working at AJHS are encouraged by their professional associations to accept students on a regular basis. Student education provides partnerships that benefit students, staff and clients. Due to the high volume of requests, we plan one year in advance for all student placements.

Becoming a member of AJHS represents a voluntary personal sign of support for our organization and is welcomed. Members have the right to vote at our annual general meeting and also receive regular updates about our programs and services.  It’s also a great way to connect with others from the community.  Membership can be purchased at a cost of $5.00 and is renewable every year; the $5.00 can be waived if someone is experiencing financial barriers. Get a membership form from the reception disk or download it here.

Board of Directors

AJHS is governed by a Board of Directors elected from our membership. The Board meets approximately 10 times per year and has an Annual General Meeting (AGM) report to the membership and the community. If you are interested in learning more about being a member, the committees or sitting on the Board of Directors, please contact the Executive Director at (416) 486-8666.
